Coreopsis tinctoria ‘Corusco Cream Red’ (Coreopsis, commonly called plains coreopsis or tickseed) is an annual (sometimes reseeding) wildflower valued for its cheerful, daisy‑like cream petals edged or flushed with red and a contrasting central disk. Native to North American prairies and open places, this cultivar brings bright, meadowy color to borders, wildflower mixes, pollinator plantings, and cottage-style beds.

Plant ‘Corusco Cream Red’ in full sun for best flowering and compact habit; it tolerates light afternoon shade but blooms more sparingly in shade. It prefers well‑drained soil from sandy to loamy with average fertility and moderate moisture—avoid waterlogged conditions. Coreopsis does well in leaner soils and usually doesn’t require heavy feeding; a light application of compost at planting is sufficient.

Seeds germinate readily with light exposure, so surface‑sow or press seeds lightly into a fine, moist seed mix rather than burying them deeply. Sow directly outdoors after the danger of frost or start indoors 3–4 weeks before last frost for earlier blooms; germination typically occurs in 7–21 days. No cold stratification is required, though fall sowing in mild areas can encourage early spring growth. Thin or space seedlings to maintain airflow and reduce disease.

Mature plants commonly reach about 12–24 inches (30–60 cm) tall with a spread of 12–18 inches (30–45 cm); space plants 12–18 inches apart. As a fast‑flowering annual it self‑sows readily where happy and is an excellent attractor of bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects.

‘Corusco Cream Red’ is prized for mass color and meadow effects, makes a cheerful short‑term cut flower, and presses or dries reasonably well for crafts and arrangements.
